Meet Our Staff
John Bob, DPT, OCS, Founder
John has been a practicing therapist for 10 years. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in 1988 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 1998 from the University of Southern California. In 2004, John earned his designation as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association. John's continuing education includes training in contemporary techniques such as Myofascial Release and ASTYM Treatment which allow him to rehabilitate injuries with an early return to function or sports. John has extensive experience in rehabilitation of lower limb amputation prosthetic training, specifically for the goal of return to walking. John is an avid jogger and road bicyclist.
Peter Hohenthaner, DPT, Owner
Peter received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from California State University Sacramento in 1997. At University of the Pacific he received both his Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2001 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2004. Peter's extensive post-professional training includes participation in three long-term orthopedic and sports medicine continuation programs. He specializes in the treatment of orthopedic injuries to the back, neck and extremities as well as sports related injuries. Peter also enjoys recreational golfing and fishing.
Michael Ko, DPT, OCS, ATC, Owner
Michael received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1998. He is a board certified orthopedic specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. He has stayed active in the education community, taking numerous classes in manual therapy, and serving as a credentialed clinical instructor for physical therapy students. He is the Program Director for Pine Street PT's Orthopedic Residency program, and serves as the primary mentor. He completed his undergraduate degree in Physiology at UCLA, where he also received his Athletic Training Certification in 1995, working with UCLA's athletic program, including the 1993 Rose Bowl football team. He is a certified provider of ASTYM. He is an avid golfer, and has specialized in the biomechanics of the golf swing. His background in sports medicine and manual therapy allows him to provide exceptional care to all his patients.
Kevin Lane, MSPT
Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Fresno in 1993 and his Master of Science degree in physical therapy from University of the Pacific in 1995. He utilizes a variety of exercise based and manual therapy approaches to assist his patients in maximizing their function. Kevin is a certified ASTYM provider, a soft tissue technique designed to promote faster recovery and facilitate return to sports and daily activities. He has studied golf swing biomechanics to assist golfers in rehabilitation and performance enhancement. Kevin enjoys a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
Melissa Wagoner, DPT
Melissa received her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from California State University, Chico in 2010. She then went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific in 2013. She is a graduate of the Pine Street PT Orthopedic Residency Program, and plans to sit for the Orthopedic Specialty Certification exam in 2016. She enjoys taking continuing education courses with an emphasis on orthopedics and manual techniques. In her free time, Melissa enjoys being active and spending time with her family.
Nicole Basham, DPT
Nicole received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University in 2011 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific in 2013. She enjoys working with a wide variety of patients and primarily utilizes a combination of exercise and manual techniques as a means of treatment. She is seeking continuing education opportunities that will expand her skills in manual therapy and she is also interested in vestibular rehabilitation. In her free time she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Rachel Sawyer, DPT
Rachel received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific in 2013, though her interest in the field began ten years earlier when she tore her ACL while playing basketball in high school. Though she eventually received a scholarship to play basketball for California State University, Los Angeles, she remained actively involved in community rehabilitation, volunteering her time training people with spinal cord injuries using a body weight supported treadmill system. Currently, she specializes in Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal rehabilitation and is currently enrolled in the Pine Street PT Orthopedic Residency Program. She plans to sit for the Orthopedic Specialty Certification Exam in 2016. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys lifting weights, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Elizabeth Hadley, PT
Elizabeth Hadley (Beth) received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Physical Education at CSU Sacramento in 1989 and obtained her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Miami in 1992. Along with an extensive background in orthopedic and neuro rehab, Beth has spent much of her career concentrating on balance disorder treatment and specializes in geriatrics. Outside of work Beth enjoys competitive horse back riding and spending time with her husband, daughter and 3 dogs.
LaVaughan Breakfield, PT
Lavaughan received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis on Exercise Science, at California State University Fresno in 1996. She continued on and received her Master of Science at University of the Pacific in 1998. She specializes in manual orthopedics. In her spare time, LaVaughan enjoys bike riding, hiking and spending time with her husband and two children.
Eva Fujii, PTA
Eva has been a physical therapist assistant for 13 years working in orthopedic outpatient, short-term rehabilitation, inpatient hospital care and home health. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of the Pacific and Associate of Arts degree from the PTA program from Sacramento City College. Eva is a native of Stockton and enjoys spending time with her husband, two girls and a household of pets.
Lena Blackshear, PTA
Lena received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from California State University Sacramento in 1997. She received her Physical Therapist's Assistant Certification from Sacramento City College and has worked as a PTA in the central valley for 15 years. She has attended additional courses focused on orthopedic management and manual therapy techniques. Her specialty is in ergonomic assessment and work related injuries, having received the title of Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist in 2006.
Melissa Milgrim, ATC
Melissa received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 2005 from California State University Fullerton. She then was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of California, Berkeley. While working with Cal's athletic teams, she continued her education at California State University, East Bay, where she earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology.
In 2007, Melissa moved to the Sacramento Area and became adjunct faculty at Sacramento City College. She has had the opportunity to work at UC Davis as well as high schools in the Sacramento area before making her way to Stockton. She enjoys working with athletes and helping them achieve their goals. In her spare time, Melissa loves to spend time with her family, attend sporting events and find new places to visit.
Sarah Blessinger, OTR/L CHT
Sarah received a BA in psychology in 1991 from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Indianapolis in 1997. She has been practicing in the area of hand therapy for over 10 years. In 2003, Sarah received the credential of Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). She enjoys the challenge of treating a variety of upper extremity diagnoses resulting from traumatic accidents, work injuries, congenital and disease processes. Sarah remains current in her field by reading the Journal of Hand Therapy and attending continuing education courses.
She is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapy and organizes a local Hand Study Group which meets monthly to discuss current trends, splinting techniques, and best treatment practices. She looks forward to serving you, both the patient and the physician, in functional restoration of the hand and upper body.
Magdalena Panscik, OTR/L,CHT - aka "KATO"
Kato received her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 1989. She has worked in the Central Valley since 1996 with experience in acute care OT, home health, student education, industrial rehab / ergonomic consultation with main focus on hand therapy. She achieved her CHT (Certified hand therapist) status in 2001 and enjoys the challenges with post surgical rehabilitation of the Upper Extremity, burn rehab, UE prosthetic training and ADL modifications to improve maximum functional independence. She is a member of the American Society of Hand therapists and the Sierra hand therapy group that meets monthly.
Derek Robinson OTR/L CHT
Derek is an Occupational therapist and a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) He received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from EAC (Manila, Philippines) in 2000. He has been practicing Hand Therapy since 2003. He received his advanced credential of Certified Hand Therapist in 2008. He specializes in acute post surgical conditions of the upper extremity, wound care, custom splinting and has advance training in ergonomics.
In his spare time, Derek enjoys playing various sports activities, cooking, watching movies and spending time with family.
